Safety and limitations of DermaScanAI

AI sees limited input, not the whole person

A photo does not provide touch, full-body examination, symptom history, medication details or test results. A product-label image does not reveal every concentration, manufacturing condition or individual allergy. A chat response can sound certain even when it is wrong.

Performance may vary with lighting, camera quality, skin tone, uncommon presentations, cropped input and model limitations. No app output should be used to confirm that a condition is absent.

  • No diagnosis or exclusion of disease.
  • No prescription or personalized treatment plan.
  • No guarantee of cosmetic compatibility or allergy safety.
  • No replacement for emergency or professional services.

Know when to seek professional care

Arrange prompt assessment for a spot or area that changes, looks different from others, bleeds, persistently itches, hurts or does not heal. Seek appropriate care for spreading redness, pus, fever or other signs that may suggest infection.

After a cosmetic product, severe or rapidly progressing swelling, difficulty breathing, faintness or other serious symptoms can be an emergency. Contact local emergency services rather than using the app or chat.

Do not turn an observation into unsupervised treatment

Do not start, stop or change a prescription based on DermaScanAI. Avoid using generated advice to combine strong active ingredients, apply a product to damaged skin or repeat a product that caused a significant reaction.

For pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood skin concerns, known allergy, chronic skin disease or medicines that affect the skin or sun sensitivity, obtain advice appropriate to the individual.

Treat skin images and health context as sensitive

Photograph only yourself or someone who has given informed permission. Remove unrelated people, documents and identifying objects from the frame, and avoid sharing personal details that are not necessary.

Read the privacy policy and terms before uploading. Protect your device and account, review stored records and use deletion controls when you no longer want data retained.

Use a simple safety check for every result

First, check whether the input was clear and complete. Second, separate observable facts from generated interpretation. Third, verify consequential information. Finally, choose whether the sensible next step is routine observation, stopping a product or contacting a professional.

A reassuring result should never overrule symptoms, visible worsening or your own concern.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a normal-looking app result rule out skin cancer?

No. An app result cannot rule out cancer or another disease. A changing, bleeding, unusual or non-healing spot needs assessment by a qualified professional regardless of the output.

Is DermaScanAI an emergency service?

No. The app cannot monitor you or dispatch help. For severe symptoms or an emergency, contact your local emergency service.

Can ingredient analysis confirm that a product is safe during pregnancy?

No. The scan is general ingredient context and does not account for formulation, dose, use or individual medical circumstances. Ask an appropriately qualified professional.
